What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a cutting-edge and evidence-based therapeutic technique that I offer at my practice. EMDR is a specialized form of psychotherapy designed to help individuals overcome the lingering effects of trauma and distressing life experiences.
How Does EMDR Work?
EMDR operates on the premise that our brains have a natural capacity to process and integrate traumatic memories. Through a structured, eight-phase approach that involves bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps clients reprocess these memories, reducing their emotional charge. By identifying and targeting the distressing memory, we can replace negative beliefs with positive ones, ultimately enabling individuals to experience resolution and emotional healing. EMDR has been particularly effective in treating conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, depression,
and phobias.
